[Sec. Cleary] “John, what do you say you and I head out to the deck and light up a couple of cigars?” [John] “Stogies?“ [Sec. Cleary] “Yeah.” [John] “Why not?” ~ (Wedding Crashers, 2005)
The Wedding Day has always been heavily favored toward the bride and all her little girl dreams come true… lace, pearls, white, satin, pretty flowers and girlie things. But what about the groom & groomsmen?
Although cigar bars have been around for a few years now, I thought I’d revisit the trend because I absolutely love the idea (not to mention they produce amazing photos)! If you have an outdoor area at your reception, having a cigar & scotch bar for the groom & the men (or even women) adds a unique, classy old-fashioned flair & entertainment to your wedding. You can also customize the matchbooks & cigars with your names and wedding date to serve as gifts for your guests.
There are a variety of options (depending on your budget) from an on-site cigar roller & connoisseur to a fully stocked traveling cigar bar to a DIY creation. Cigar roller companies and traveling cigar bars will bring everything necessary (i.e. humidor, variety of cigars, cutters, lighters, etc…) to set up the station and sometime provide a bit of education & history.
Another fun addition to the cigar bar is to combine it with a classy assortment of scotch or whiskey and create customized signs paired with old fashioned glassware & flasks.
